Checkpoints: Business System

• Does the name of the business system reflect its role and purpose within the business?
• Does the business system offer a clear set of responsibilities?
• Are the responsibilities aligned with the role and purpose of the business system?
• Are the responsibilities coherent (logically related)?
• Does the business system cleanly separate the specification of its responsibilities from their realization?
• Do any parties external to the business system interact with it in any way other than using the predefined responsibilities?
• Is the business system directly dependent on any elements within other business systems?
• Are all responsibilities realized in some way by the elements within the business system?
• Would changes to the internal structure of the business system have impact outside its boundaries?
• Does the number of business systems seem reasonable (no more than 12 at any one level)?
