Workflow Detail: Develop Support Material

Description

Support material covers the full range of information that will be required by the end-user to install, operate, use, and maintain the delivered system. It also includes training material for all of the various positions that will be required to effectively use the new system.

Timing

While this work might begin as early as the Elaboration phase, it is generally conducted in Construction and Transition iterations. Within an iteration, it can start as soon as the first software build is produced.

Optionality

Most software requires some level of support material to be provided with it. In exceptional cases this material might be excluded from the deliverables in agreement with the project stakeholders.

How to Staff

Both the Technical Writer and Course Developer need to be articulate and adept at creating information, written or otherwise, that is relevant from an end-user perspective.
