Overview
The following steps are performed in this tool mentor:
- [Analyze Distribution Requirements](#Analyze Distribution Requirements)
- [Define the Network Configuration](#Define the Network Configuration)
- [Allocate System Elements to Nodes](#Allocate System Elements to Nodes)
Analyze Distribution Requirements
There is no Rational XDE™ specific guidance for this step.
Define the Network Configuration
Refine the deployment diagram created in Activity: Architectural Analysis (Tool Mentor: Performing Architectural Analysis Using Rational XDE).
For more information, refer to in the Rational XDE online Help.
Allocate System Elements to Nodes
Annotate the deployment diagram, or add additional diagrams, to show logical deployment (classes, subsystems, or threads of control mapped to nodes), and/or physical deployment (files or sets of files mapped to nodes). The steps are as follows:
- Add additional deployment diagrams as needed. See in the Rational XDE online Help.
- Add nodes or node instances to the diagram. See in the Rational XDE online Help.
- Drag and drop design model elements or implementation model elements onto the diagram. See in the Rational XDE online Help. If the element to be deployed is not yet modeled, add it as needed to the appropriate model. (See Rational XDE Model Structure Guidelines for where each kind of element is modeled.)
- Add deploy relationships between nodes and deployed elements. See in the Rational XDE online Help.
