Process Component: Disciplines

Description

The Disciplines process component is concerned with organizing software development into specific fields of practice, such as Requirements, Implementation, Test, and so on. Within each “discipline” are “workflow details” which group collaborating activities into higher level “goal focussed” activities.

Disciplines provide a useful view into a particular aspect of the software development process. They also help to understand, organize, and plan the process at a higher level than the individual activities performed by individual roles.
